CAPALBIO THE LITTLE ATHENS

The touch of the highest worldliness is certainly on Fridays and Sundays at the Orbetello railway station: there meet the vacationers who go to bring or to pick up the Filipino maids who spend the weekend in Rome
The Capalbio of 2000 is that «little Athens» that in the 70s exploded as the most elitist and intellectual holiday place. The Last Beach, that strip of beach much loved by Luciana Castellina, is the bathing establishment of Italian intelligentsia. Alberto Asor Rosa left the apartment in the old town for a farmhouse, Achille Occhetto moved to Magliano in Toscana. The only one who still lives in the alleys is Giacomo Marramao who with his wife Gabriella forms a phalanx, but not a cenacle. The two most famous fables of the coast have remained: Fabio Mari and Fabio Borrelli, but the Fabietà and Capalbio Cinema Corto represent a part of the Maremma coast, no longer all of Capalbio. At the edges of the sea, divided from the beach by five minutes of Mediterranean maquis, invisible but strong, with their beautiful and desirable houses, their powerful means of locomotion, even aerial, live the inhabitants of the 25 houses of the Sacred society, owner of the coasts and Capalbiesi lakes that Carlo Puri, with a blow of wing, has restructured, rented and made to become the most beautiful houses of desire in Italy. «The exact opposite of Sardinia», says with conviction one of the beautiful ones admitted in that paradise. The Costa Smeralda with its roaring engines, its women dressed in transparent veils, the bright tans, its combed beaches, the men with the mobile phone that rings is the common enemy of the intellectual group, which in the morning buys a whole bunch of newspapers, to read themselves many times on the pages of culture, or those of the houses on the sea that instead read only the rises and collapses of the stock exchange. That the demarcation line between the inhabitants of the houses on the beach and the others is impassable has been a proof of the Short Film Festival and the happening «Arte Breve».

Both events of Capalbio were organized by Tommaso Mottola, a handsome young man, a noble Neapolitan family who, with grace and infinite patience, created an event in its national genre. Mottola brought together all the local intelligentsia, Philippe Daverio, Marcello Panni, Oliviero Toscani, Claudio Petruccioli, Valerio Adami, but none of the inhabitants of the eden on the wild sea showed up. Nobody appeared at the breakfast of Stella Leonetti, president of this Festival, who celebrated and celebrated the twenty years with its founders - Daniela Lecaldano, Sita Banergey and Mirella Petteni - and with the other guests, from Giorgio La Malfa to Caterina Caselli. Nobody at Giuppi Pietromarchi's cocktail. No one knows who Gino De Dominicis is, the irreverent painter of Mitzi Boidi's short film, and they will continue to not know it. While the Leonetti sisters, united by cultural adrenaline and teeth divided in the middle, spoke of art and culture music in the houses by the sea of the most ganzi brothers in Rome, Ugo and Ferdinando Brachetti Peretti, Anna Ratti, Carlo and Isabel Clavarino where sip the cold with Lapo Elkann. As if they were on a boat of the much disdained Costa Smeralda. Either they are not informed or disinterested, or they probably do not care. However they did not show up. Too bad, the big bourgeoisie has a duty to take an interest in artistic jolts. The only one that sometimes mixes is Barbara Frua: starry eyes and freshly in love, the lady is the only one who leaves the Eden for culture. In any case, we did not miss it: weekend of crowds and fire at the Frantoio, where the happening «Arte Breve» took place: art, theater (edited by Anna Nogara) music, photography, advertising, fashion, poetry. So many people were that Desire Olivetti, Elisabetta Catalano, Giulia Massari, Carolina Valmarana, Adalberto, Amalia and Caterina Cremonese stayed out. In Capalbio with 6 newspapers under the arm or with only one newspaper in hand all have to do with Fiorella, Veruska and Amerigo Rossi, owners of bars and restaurants. Maurizio Rossi, the head of the family, is the deus ex machina of the place. Everything goes from him, from cappuccino to dinner, to the bedroom.

In Ansedonia instead the ras is Vinicio. At the junction there is a sign where we read: Vinicio hotel. Vinicio restaurant. Vinicio pizzeria. Vinicio real estate. Vinicio boutique. Vinicio minimarket. In short, Vinicio is Ansedonia, which was once more popular than Capalbio so much that to sell the first houses this' last called Ansedonia south. Now, however, Ansedonia is treated as a village of Capalbio, even if it lives in its own intense light. So intense that the most beautiful houses, such as the Torre San Felice, or that of Professor Stefanini, with swimming pool and down to the sea, or that of Panfilo Tarantelli and Giovanni San Just are rented in August at a very dear price. But even in Capalbio, August is less lively than in July, many owners of private Eden go by boat. In July and in August the most mundane places in Ansedonia are, on Saturdays and Sundays, the rubbish bins at the junction, when the summer inhabitants, without maids, get rid of their waste. But the touch of higher worldliness, which combines Capalbio to Ansedonia, is certainly on Friday and Sunday at Orbetello station. It is there that meet the owners of the houses that go to bring or resume domestic workers, Filipinas, who go to the weekend in Rome. This problem does not touch Elena Daverio who is helped by the faithful Antonella, owner of the only exotic snake of the seaside town. Elena Daverio has the most hospitable home on the coast. She receives to work when her husband turns "Passepartout" and for joy. From Fabio Roversi Monaco to Mapi Maino, to Renato Mannheimer all pass through the large farmhouse. But now after the Short Film Festival, the most awaited events are more affective. First it is celebrated by Nina Fustenberg and Giancarlo Bosetti, then there is the party of Chiara Valentini and Aldo Tortorella. First ping pong tournament, at the last blood, then dances. In Capalbio you have a lot of fun and there are so many things to do. There remains a doubt though. Who knows why the divine by the sea do not mix with the Short Festival and the happening «Arte Breve»? For the answer do not listen to the intellectuals, they give such hard answers.
